Purpose of Risk Assessment Document:
Performance Testing Risk assessment document helps to understand the impact of changes on the existing functionality or a new system. The impact of changes is analysed from a performance testing perspective and note down in the risk assessment document. Risk Assessment document describes in-scope and out of scope components for performance testing.
When to prepare?
A performance tester prepares a risk assessment document during the Risk Assessment phase (The first phase of Performance Testing Life Cycle). He conducts the risk assessment either at the end of application development or when the functional testing starts. Ideally, the risk assessment should be conducted at the planning phase of the project, but practically there are so many challenges like the possibility of changing the project scope, change in strategy etc. which push back the performance testing risk assessment meeting.
Who does prepare?
Performance Test Manager or Lead who has a good knowledge of the components; prepares the performance testing risk assessment document. Either of them has to schedule a meeting with the project team to understand the impact of changes, analyse the depth of changes and decide the scope of performance testing etc.
